Because life’s challenges are often complex and diverse, Council for Relationships offers a wide range of counseling services. We provide expert individual, couple and family therapy by a large group of highly experienced, multidisciplinary professionals. With over 60 practicing clinicians in 11 different locations, we’re able to consider many different options for you and will do our best to find an excellent match for your needs. To keep our services affordable to everyone, we offer our counseling services on a sliding-fee basis.
Since 1948, Council for Relationships has been offering a post-graduate training program in couple and family therapy and has been certified by AAMFT since 1975 as an approved training center, the first of its kind to educate clinicians and clergy in marital, family and sex therapy. Today, our Post Graduate Certificate Program and our Master’s Degree in Family Therapy offered in partnership with Thomas Jefferson University educate the next generation of relationship therapists. We offer a range of other educational opportunities including continuing education, our sex therapy program, clergy seminars, and individual coursework.
Research & Resources
Part of Council for Relationships’ mission is to provide research. The Transcending Trauma Project, a Council research program since 1991, studies the lives of Holocaust survivors and their families in order to learn about the human response to extreme trauma. This research contributes to the field of mental health by providing essential knowledge for treating trauma victims. In addition to our research, the Council provides resources for the public on a variety of mental health topics.
