Donor Spotlight: Patti Owens

October 9, 2019

Patti Owens is a gracious donor, Chair of Council for Relationships Board , and an active proponent for the importance of maintaining healthy relationships. Read on to learn more about Patricia’s experience with CFR and why she supports our mission.

What makes you so passionate about CFR?

I strongly believe in the positive power of human connectedness, and CFR is the one organization I know of that prioritizes the quality of our relationships above all else. CFR helps clients to develop more intimate relationships with their loved ones, which helps them to lead happier, more productive, and more positive lives. I believe that positive energy radiates outward to become an advantage point for improving our entire Philadelphia community. CFR addresses the root cause of so many issues in our society, and plays a significant role in making our world a better place, one person at a time.

What do you tell people who have not heard about CFR? How do you describe CFR?

CFR is like a teaching hospital with a focus on providing mental health services. We educate the next generation of future therapists, and provide therapy to an incredibly diverse client base, from the poorest to the wealthiest members of our community. I tell them that we set the gold standard in patient care, and that we provide the best therapy in the Delaware Valley.

Why do you support CFR philanthropically?

I support CFR philanthropically because life is difficult for everyone at some point, and I believe that therapy is among the best options to support people during those challenging times. Suffering is suffering, no matter who is feeling the pain (rich or poor, black or white, young or old), and CFR provides support for those who could otherwise not afford to be able to access it.

What does your service on CFR’s board mean to you?

It is, for me, the opportunity to give back to the organization that gave me so much during difficult times in my life. I could never repay my debt, but serving on the CFR board allows me the opportunity to chip away at it, just a little bit.

We truly appreciate the philanthropic nature expressed by our compassionate donors. All donations received go towards supporting CFRs’ work. Please visit our about us page to learn more about the mission of CFR.
