Why Attend this Training Conference?

The Harmonizing the Self & the System conference will introduce the most up-to-date iteration of the Intersystem Approach (IA), which now includes comprehensive application of attachment theory.  Developed over several decades, the IA is a systemic conceptual integration that provides a framework for bridging the divide that has separated our understandings of the individual (psychotherapy) from the couple and family (systems therapy).  The application of the IA to sex therapy is also considered an important and inspiring contribution to the field as well as a new paradigm.  Consequently, the IA is a timely and important framework for professional practice that facilitates the expansion of a systemic lens for marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, psychiatrists, sex therapists, psychologists, counselors, students and others interested in helping people.

The Conference Goals

  1. Learn how to use the Intersystem Approach as a method for helping clients who come for treatment to improve the quality of their lives.
  2. Develop a methodology utilizing the Intersystem Approach that facilitates the clinician’s ability to respond to the individual, couple, and family domains of behavior, as well as greater contextual influences.
  3. Guided by the IA, improve the quality of clinical interventions, the range of modalities (individual, couple, family therapy) and the use of specific approaches to therapy.
