This award is named for our founder, Dr. Emily Harstshorne Mudd, who founded Council for Relationships in 1932 as The Marriage Council of Philadelphia. She was a nationally recognized marriage and family therapist and a dedicated champion of women’s rights.  This award was created to honor her legacy and is given to an individual who has contributed towards improving family life in our region. The community leaders whom we seek to recognize are agents of change that shape our community, generators of connectivity, and partners on the journey towards wholeness, personal growth, and development.

On May 30, Council for Relationships (CFR) will present the 2018 Dr. Emily Hartshorne Mudd Award to Reid Blynn at a special receptionThe award is given to recognize contributions to the quality of family life in our region. As Chair of CFR’s Board from 2012-2017, Reid has touched the lives of thousands of people in the greater Philadelphia area and CFR is very pleased to honor him at the event this spring.

Reid Blynn has been a member of the CFR board for over 10 years, and served as Board Chair for 6 years. During this time the organization experienced changes in leadership as it made a transition from the longstanding tenure of CEO Emeritus Steve Treat. Under Reid’s leadership the board matured professionally, now populated by seventeen highly qualified individuals with complementary skill sets. With a strengthened board and executive leadership team, CFR is well positioned to serve couples and families throughout the region.

In his professional life, Reid is Executive Managing Director at Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) and has been a leader in Philadelphia’s commercial real estate brokerage community for over 30 years. NKF purchased Smith Mack in 2012. As a partner of Smith Mack, Reid experienced the full life cycle of an entrepreneurial real estate services firm. During his seven years as the firm’s Managing Partner, Reid oversaw a host of mission-critical company initiatives including its strategic plan, new partner plan and growth of the operating platform, thereby tripling the company’s revenue.  This experience allowed him to bring a broad business perspective to his work on the board at Council for Relationships.
