Council for Relationships has a long history at the forefront of couple and family therapy. In addition to our counseling services, we offer training and continuing education programs to professionals in the mental health field. This year we were thrilled to organize the 25th Treating Couples Conference!

On Friday, November 10 over 100 marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and students gathered in King of Prussia to learn the latest in the Intersystem Approach. Conference attendees learned about new clinical tools for their clinical practice, clinical applications of systemic sex therapy, and the intergenerational transmission of attachment.

The Intersystem Approach is the current integrative framework for clinical treatment. It was originally developed by Dr. Gerald Weeks, who was scheduled to speak at the conference. Unfortunately due to an emergency situation Dr. Weeks was not able to physically attend the conference. However, a pre-filmed recording of his full remarks was played in lieu of his attendance.

“The conference was a resounding success. Despite Gerald Weeks not able to be there live, Rita DeMaria and Nancy Gambescia more than made up for his absence. Everyone was very pleased with the day and took away a great deal of information to augment their practice.”

-William Coffey, MSW, LCSW, Director of Clinical and Business Operations at CFR

“Dr. Rita DeMaria, Dr. Nancy Gambescia, and Dr. Gerald Weeks add so much scholarly and practical knowledge to the fields of couple/family therapy and sex therapy. The Conference was a great example of the reasons why many of us clinicians value CFR as our clinical home base.”

-Michele Marsh, Director of the Sex Therapy Track at Thomas Jefferson University’s Couple & Family Therapy Master’s Program

Council for Relationships would like to thank all of the attendees and the many individuals who made the conference possible!
