Council offering new therapy groups!

Council offers group therapy as well as traditional therapy for individuals, couples and families. We are excited to share that there have recently been two new groups added to our calendar. Group therapy can be a transformative experience for participants either on it’s own or in conjunction with traditional therapy.

The core belief about group therapy is that the group comes to be a representation of your world at large.  In that way, group members relate to and interact with one another similarly to how they relate to and interact with others in their lives.  The therapist helps group members use the group to explore themselves, their beliefs, and their interactional patterns in order to grow and work through issues in their lives.  The potential to relate to the stories and experiences of fellow group members can also promote the growth of empathy and understanding as well as a sense of not being alone in one’s experience.  The growth and healing that comes from being part of a therapy group can be tremendous and the experience can be very powerful.

The two new groups being offered include:

Farewall to Flo: Women Embracing Change Together: This group is offered for women who are in the Perimenopausal phase of life, which means “around menopause” and refers to the time during which your body makes the natural transition to menopause.  This group is a supportive place to process, prepare for, and take charge of your journey to this new phase of life.  Gaining knowledge and support from other women is healing and empowering.  Let’s face these challenges and changes together, and recognize and celebrate all we have yet to accomplish and achieve. New members can join this group at any time.

This group will meet twice a month starting in Mid-March 2017 and will run concurrently in two different locations. To see the schedule for the Farewell to Flo: Women Embracing Change Together groups, please click here.

My Adoption Experience: This group is offered to provide a supportive place for all adult members of the adoption triad: Adoptees, Adoptive Parents (pre and post), and Biological Parents. The group is intended to be a safe and confidential place where the core issues of adoption can be processed, and people can receive the support they need on this lifelong journey.  New members can join this group at any time.

This group also meets twice a month starting in Mid-March 2017 and will run concurrently in two different locations. To see the schedule for the My Adoption Experience groups, please click here.
