
Youth suicide poses a serious mental and public health concern. Effective screening, assessment, and intervention is therefore imperative. This presentation will provide an overview of evidence-based tools, resources, and strategies to support clinicians in screening for, assessing, and intervening on symptoms of youth suicidality. A case vignette will be presented and discussed to facilitate learning during the presentation.

- Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to define suicidal ideation, suicidal behavior, and non-suicidal self-injury.
- Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to identify risk and protective factors associated with suicide risk in youth.
- Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to describe the different steps of a suicide safety planning intervention.
- Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to describe distress tolerance skills as one set of strategies to support suicidal youth in managing intense emotions.
