Certification and Membership in AAMFT

Certification and Membership in AAMFT

Council for Relationships awards a Certificate of Completion to those interns who have successfully met the requirements of the program.

This represents completing all coursework, supervision, and supervised clinical hours AAMFT requires. A transcript is available upon request for submission to the state for MFT licensure and to AAMFT for clinical membership.

The 500 clinical face-to-face contact hours count as 1,000 hours of clinical service for Pennsylvania state licensure. Licensure in Pennsylvania requires a total of 3,000 clinical service hours. The remaining clinical service hours are typically fulfilled by clinical practice either concurrent with or upon completion of the program.

Students in the program are eligible for Student-level membership in the professional organization for Marriage and Family Therapists, AAMFT (the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists). Graduation from the program establishes eligibility for membership at the Pre-Clinical Fellow level. Upon attaining a Marriage and Family Therapist license, clinicians become eligible for membership in AAMFT as Clinical Fellows.
