How Online Therapy Works

First, you will choose a therapist and reach out to them to express interest in how Online Therapy works. Our Client Care team is ready to answer any questions and guide you through the process: Call (215) 382 6680 ext. 1.

If you would like to explore on your own, click here to browse this list of therapists who are trained to practice Online Therapy. You can browse by specialty areas or types of therapy offered. Contact information is located on each therapist’s profile.

Before you become a client, the therapist will email you to learn about your needs, send you a brief form to be returned, and schedule a free 15-30 minute assessment on our video conferencing platform. If the therapist determines that this is a good therapeutic fit for you, they will send you an intake packet to complete before your first session. If CFR determines that Online Therapy is not a good fit for your situation, the therapist will refer you to other therapists or resources.

Current Clients

If you are already seeing a clinician at Council for Relationships, transitioning to online therapy is a simpler process. Complete the Online Therapy Consent Form and email it to your clincian. Communicate directly with your clinican to find out their availability and to determine the best way to proceed.

Requirements

Like any therapeutic approach, there are limitations to Online Therapy. Here’s a summary of the main requirements for Online Therapy:

Location

We are only able to provide this service to clients who are located in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the state where our participating therapists are licensed. You will also need to be in a private and quiet location for your Online Therapy sessions. We recommend a well-lit room with no distractions.

Technology

You will need a computer or tablet (not a phone) with a web camera, microphone, and speakers. You will need to use Firefox or Chrome as your internet browser. For optimal call performance, it is important that you are connected to high-speed internet. You can test your internet speed here. Our Online Therapy is delivered via a video conferencing software called Doxy.me.

If you have a scheduled appointment, visit http://cfr.doxy.me, select the clinician that you are scheduled to meeting with, enter room, and enter your full name. You will be placed in a virtual waiting room until your scheduled session time.

Payment

Please be prepared to pay by credit or debit card during your session. We also accept payment via HSA/FSA cards.
