Candice’s journey to becoming a therapist

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Business, a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Organizational Development, and a Master’s in Psychology with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. A veteran of the U.S. Army, I began working as a management consultant and the end of my military service. Still a corporate consultant and life coach, I found that helping people with life and relationship struggles is a purpose-driven career pivot and closely related to the work I do with executives. I decided to pursue licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy and want to help relationship dynamics one family at a time.

I learned over the past 20+ years in my career that interpersonal relationships are the foundation on which we thrive. As humans, we are relational beings and have work relationships, family relationships, friendships, and intimate relationships. Many times, when one of these relational dimensions is off, it can impact others. I want to help people flourish as both individuals and relational beings. CFR’s mission is to strengthen interpersonal connections which tightly aligns with my professional mission to do the same.

My dynamic inventory of experiences afforded me the opportunity to work with a wide range of individuals. I help people look inside their emotional world to explore how it impacts their interpersonal one.

How I will help you look inside your emotional world.

During our first session with me, we will get to know each other. I know most people feel uneasy at a first session with a therapist and I want you to know that you are safe with me. I will ask you questions about your background, and tell you how I approach therapy. Each client is unique and I will meet you where they are to build a safe therapeutic relationship with a foundation to flourish for your clinical benefit.

The goal of therapy is to uncover and address unhelpful thoughts and behaviors to make positive changes to support a healthy future. I will work with you to develop awareness of sub-conscious patterns, while gently challenging unhelpful behaviors that keep patterns going.

Are you struggling with the decision to start therapy?

If you are struggling to start therapy, try speaking to a few therapists. Therapy is a relationship, and the best way to start is to find someone you feel a sense of comfort with.
