Dr. Karen Levinson is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings including college counseling, private practice, community mental health, and a psychiatric hospital.
Working as a CBT-oriented therapist who thinks about how clients see and interpret their experiences, she also values the therapeutic relationship as a means for helping clients effect change. She is solutions-focused, working with clients to identify what they want to change, both collaborating with them and using her clinical authority to challenge them to experiment with new ways of thinking and behaving. Interpersonal patterns or personal history are explored to gain a better understanding of how a person’s beliefs about themselves and the world have developed but may no longer serve them. Karen brings in aspects of other therapeutic approaches including ACT, DBT, and mindfulness to provide clients with tools and techniques for coping. She has extensive experience with a wide range of clinical issues including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, identity development, cultural issues, academic/ career concerns, body image issues, trauma, etc.
She enjoys meeting with clients in person and is also comfortable being flexible and using technology to allow therapy to be more accessible and convenient. In addition, she is a PSYPACT licensed Psychologist who can work virtually with clients across states lines.
